Alican Demir completed his master's degree at Stendhal-Grenoble 3 University in 2003. Demir teaches Basic French at the French Preparatory Unit.
Asena Kaya Karaca, who completed her PhD at Yıldız Technical University in 2021, works on art translation in the context of interdisciplinarity, visibility of the artist as a translator, translation of cultures within the framework of anthropology and archaeology, phenomenology in translation, sociology of translation and translation criticism. Before joining Bilkent University, Dr Karaca worked at Beykent University and is interested in electric drums, open-water kayaking and hiking.
Cahide Ekiz, who focuses on economics, trade, politics, law, the European Union, international organisations, social sciences and popular science within the framework of specialised translation, received her MA from the University of Surrey. She has worked at Atılım and Hacettepe Universities, TÖMER and Turkish Standards Institute.
Güçlü Özkök completed his master's degree at Hacettepe University in 1995 and specialised in grammar in French foreign language teaching. He has been involved in establishing a video conferencing system for simultaneous translation courses supported by the European Parliament and in managing the courses. He has also contributed to the dissemination of the Melissi classroom translation software. Özkök translates stories, narratives and reading books from French into Turkish for preschool and primary school children and is an avid mountain biker, scuba diver and motocross racer.
Neda Siami completed her PhD at Hacettepe University in 2016 and works in the fields of French literature and theatre. Before joining Bilkent University, Dr. Siami worked at TOBB ETU, Ankara French Cultural Centre, University of Tabriz, University of Urumia and Kish University. She has special interests in literature, psychology, music, theatre and dance.
Zeynep Şengel is working on interpreting, conference interpreting, interpreting training, barrier-free access, migration and translation, and plain language use. She received her MA from Bilkent University in 2008. She worked as a freelance conference interpreter for 15 years, providing interpreting services in high-level bilateral and technical meetings, various conferences and congresses. Mrs.Şengel is the vice-president of the Turkish Conference Interpreters Association.
